South Africa face huge setback as this star player ruled out from 2023 World Cup

South Africa make two changes ahead of 2023 World Cup...

Anrich Nortje, the team's deadly fast bowler, and all-rounder Sisanda Magala were both ruled out due to injuries on Thursday, which gave a serious setback to South Africa's World Cup preparations. Seamer Lizaad Williams and all-rounder Andile Phehlukwayo have been chosen as substitutes to cover that gap. On October 7th, South Africa will begin their campaign against Sri Lanka.

An important setback results from Nortje's absence, which is linked to a back issue, especially given his excellent pace. Magala has been struggling with a knee problem in that time.

"It is hugely disappointing for anrich and Sisanda to be missing out on the 50 over World Cup", South Africa's coach Rob Walter Said. Nortje's absence is a serious setback for South Africa as well because the bowler has a lot of experience playing for the Delhi Capitals in the Indian Premier League. In actuality, Nortje was one of the pacers the team decided to hold onto before the league's 2022 serious auction.

He was given a break from the T20Is against Australia after competing in the Major League Cricket competition in the USA over the South African winter. His comeback, however, was limited because he was initially declared ineligible for the first ODI and only appeared briefly in the second, bowling five over before leaving. He became unfit for the entire series after scans.
Since suffering a hand injury while competing in the IPL in early April, Sisanda Magala has been unable to play cricket. Later, due to infrapatellar tendinopathy, which causes pain in the tendon connecting the kneecap to the shin bone, he was unable to play in the T20Is against Australia.

South Africa's Updated Squad : Temba Bavuma (captain), Gerald Coetzee, Quinton de Kock, Reeza Hendricks, Marco Jansen, Heinrich Klaasen, Keshav Maharaj, Aiden Markram, David Miller, Lungi Ngidi, Andile Phehlukwayo, Kagiso Rabada, Tabraiz Shamsi, Rassie van der Dussen and Lizaad Williams.
